Fat Burning Foods

Is there really such a thing as fat burning foods? Can you really burn fat while eating special foods? Wait a minute…. are you kidding me?

If you’re one of the skeptics who thinks the idea of super class of foods that can burn fat and boost metabolism is bunk, you’re not alone.

The fact of the matter is that a single-food diet is not good for the body and it really won’t help boost metabolism. There is, however, a certain level of truth in the notion that grapefruit, celery and other super foods can help with weight loss and metabolic rate boosting.

While medical science has failed to substantiate the grapefruit or celery diets, it has known for a very long time that these foods are good inclusions in a healthy diet. They also tend to be rather low in calories. Celery is even quite high in fiber, which can help reinforce the body to burn more calories during it’s digestion.

So, what does this mean to you if you’re looking to boost your metabolism? It’s fairly simple. Celery and grapefruit alone won’t really help you kick start your calorie-burning machine, but it would be smart to include them in an overall program.

Before you rush out and buy every grapefruit at your local grocery store, stop, breathe and put an emphasis on that “overall program.” The best way to really tweak your metabolism is to consider your health all the time. To really make it work as you’d like, or closer to it, you need to:

• Eat smarter. While it’s impossible to change your metabolism, it is feasible to massage it a bit. This can be achieved by eating smarter. Consider more frequent, smaller portions throughout the day. Little meals every four to six hours can really help here. By all means include grapefruit, celery and other super foods, but don’t forget that “healthy” means healthy balance.
• Move. This four-letter word goes a long way when metabolic boosting is desired. To really kick-start your metabolism, you have to move. Get up, exercise, clean the house, garden, play with the kids – just do something! The more you move, the harder your metabolism has to work.
• Build muscle. The more muscle you have, the more calories you’ll burn on a daily basis. Building lean muscle mass is key to boosting metabolism. This doesn’t mean you need to make yourself look like a weight lifter, but toning and shaping up can very much help you along toward your goal.

Boosting metabolism with “super foods” is possible, but not in the way many diet plans tout. Eating nothing but a certain fruit, vegetable or meat will end up hurting you in the long run. Consider a smarter path by looking at the overall, big picture. There is something to super foods, but they alone will not give you the results you desire.

The Obesity Swine Flu Connection

We have seen information about the swine flu and because it has not hit us hard, we have become a bit lax about it. What you should know is that the time when the swine flu will be at its peak is in the fall/winter 2009/2010. Yes, just a few months away.

Well, it is happening:

Swine flu is beginning to really take hold.

Not just in the United States, but all over the world.

But that’s not the scary part…

… the scary part is the fact that being obese OR overweight has now been directly linked to DYING from the swine flu.

My friend Jon Benson put together a 5-minute video that documents these findings.

This is free for you to view — and you owe it to yourself to check it out.

Folks, we have to get a grip on this.

And believe it or not, it starts in your kitchen.

Watch the video to find out what to do.

Top Simple Tip To Lose Weight

We all want to lose weight but we often get tied of all the rules and regulations that we have to follow. Eat this, don’t eat that - don’t eat after 6:00PM - cut out carbs. - Well you know what I mean.

However, what if you could just follow 1 or 2 simple rules and forget all the rest? Wouldn’t that be great? Well you can!

So here you go……

The easiest way for you to lose extra pounds is to simply eat when you are hungry and then stop eating when the hunger pangs have gone away.

But it is not that simple, is it?

Truly - eating only when you are honestly hungry and stopping before you are stuffed is THE way people lose weight. But because there are so many emotions tied up in overeating - losing weight for most people is not easy.

Some good questions to ask yourself BEFORE each time you eat are:

Are you physically hungry?

How often are you letting your hunger guide your daily meals?

And how often are you reaching for food to meet some other need besides physiological hunger?

It is possible that you have become so out of touch with hunger that you don’t recognize your true hunger pangs or signals.

Some overweight folks never let themselves get hungry because they eat so often or they eat so much at each meal — so they may have lost touch with what hunger really feels like in their body.

Eating when you are hungry and stopping before you are over-filled should be one of the easiest things in life to do but if you look around and see the serious obesity problems in America you will see that it is not that easy.

The reason is that people are eating for reasons OTHER than hunger.

The next time you think about eating, ask yourself just how hungry you are. If you are hungry, go ahead and eat a sensible healthy meal. If you are not hungry, ask yourself what you are REALLY craving.

Is your craving for rest? Are you exhausted and need a nap?

Are you bored? Do you need to get busy doing something fun to occupy your mind?

Do you need some exercise? Would a nice walk outside fill you up better than some food in the kitchen?

Do you need to de-stress? You may feel like you are living in such a hectic world; you may be craving some down time or relaxation.

There can be so much stress and anxiety with all the things you have to handle each day — your job, your family, your finances. And those stressors can make you want want to turn to food for comfort and release.

Rest, exercise, calm, quiet, renewal — every one of these things are real legitimate human needs and they need to be met.

However they are NOT hunger needs.

So if you try to fill those situations by eating food you will not get relief from those needs. You will still have those needs waiting to be met after you have polished off the container of ice cream. And you will feel even worse from overeating.

Maybe you could start asking yourself different questions when you feel like reaching for food when you are not truly hungry.

Ask yourself, what is the nicest thing you can do for yourself right now?

What could help you feel better and function at the highest level for yourself and for your family and for your job?

Save eating for when you are really hungry. Food always tastes better when you are hungry anyway.

And then give yourself some freedom to explore healthier ways to meet your legitimate daily needs. You will feel much better in the long run.
