5 Tips For Weight Loss

Here are some quick tips for weight loss. Although they are short and sweet, just remember to read each step then expand it for your personal lifestyle and then act on them. It’s the action that will give you results.

1. Always plan your goals. Do you want to lose weight all over, just tone a few areas or maybe want to slim down for an important occasion. Also think of what your roadblocks have been in the past. Are there certain trigger points that make you blow your diet and exercise plan? If so write down how you will handle these situations.

2. Plan out a few meals and snacks. Yes, you should be having a few snacks a day- but these will be healthy snacks such as raw veggies, some fruit or low fat cheese. Your meals should be split into 4 or 5 smaller meals. This way you won’t be hungry during the day and want to cheat.
A slice or two of lean turkey on a whole wheat pita makes a great small meal.

3. Whether you like it or not you are going to have to plan some type of exercise regiment. Whether it’s walking, gardening, mowing the lawn, or even giving it more energy when you clean your home, you must learn to get up and move. Remember the more you move the more calories you burn.

4. Plan on one special treat a week. Yes, this can be something that you really like, something like ice cream, cake or a few cookies. BUT only once a week. Once you start to eat better, you’ll find that you’ll want these guilty pleasures less and less. By having one treat a week you won’t feel deprived and if your invited to a birthday party you won’t have to turn down down a slice of cake.

5. Use free resources. The library and the internet both have tons of free resources. If you check at the top of this page you’ll see some free fitness tools - take advantage of them. If you like a certain page bookmark it so that you can return again and again. You’ll find so many free resources online that you won’t need to join a weight loss membership site.

Always remember that you will “fall of of the wagon” every once in a while. Just accept that fact and when you do blow your diet or exercise plan, don’t give up- just get right back on track as soon as possible.

Do Dairy products Really Help With Weight Loss

The only way that I could see how it could help with weight loss, is if you drank skin milk and it filled you up a bit so that you didn’t snack on junk food.

However it makes more sense to add more fruit or veggies to your diet to help fill up since many people have digestive problems with dairy.

For your calcium goals there are many alternatives to dairy.

Paper in May’s Nutrition Reviews Has Strong Implications for Dairy Industry’s Multimillion-Dollar Ad Campaign

Two large observational studies led by Harvard researchers, one including 12,829 adolescents and the other involving more than 19,000 adult men, found that dairy consumption is linked to weight gain. Of the 49 randomized controlled studies analyzed for this review, two showed weight gain, and most of the studies, 41, showed no effect. The only studies showing weight loss were led by industry-funded researchers.
